Acura GSX hopes to shuttle the elite passengers of Virgin Galactic
Futuristic Virgin Galactic astronauts wouldn’t be normally shuttled to the company’s spaceport in the Mojave Desert, and while Virgin Galactic is working on the most important technologies, industrial designers have taken up the task to design a luxurious means to shuttle the elite class to the spaceport. The Acura GSX by Jeremy Burgess is one such concept vehicle that has specifically been designed for the task.
The vehicle is designed for the year 2025, when space travel won’t be as uncommon as it is today. The interior of the car features seating for three, with a single seat up front for the driver and two rear seats for the astronauts. The vehicle will offer an unmatched luxurious ride for the astronauts from Los Angeles to the spaceport in the Mojave Desert.
The Acura GSX is designed to be powered by a fuel cell platform similar to Honda’s FCX platform. The green vehicle will be powered by a hydrogen dual fuel cells configuration and each wheel will house an electric motor that features adaptive computer assisted suspension to compensate the increase in weight of the wheels.
